Build Skills, Confidence, and Agility—One Lunge at a Time

Our Beginner Fencing Classes are designed to introduce young athletes to the fundamentals of fencing in an engaging, well-rounded way. We combine physical training with tactical instruction—building strength, coordination, and fencing discipline.

What Kids Learn:

  • Fencing fundamentals: En garde stance, proper footwork and movements, bladework basics, and bouting tactics.

  • Warm-up routines, dynamic stretching, and footwork drills that enhance body awareness and athleticism.

  • Structured supervised bouting to practice skills in a controlled, fun match environment.

  • All necessary equipment available to rent—sanitized and maintained by our staff.

Program Options:

Six-Week beginner Course @DFA Ridgewood (597 N. Maple Ave)

Our 6-week intro to fencing course for beginners ages 10 and up is available year-round on a rolling basis. The course covers all the basics of Olympic fencing. Fencing equipment is provided for this course.

Six-Week beginner Course @ Ridgewood Rec. center (131 N. Maple Ave)

Intro to fencing program in coordination with Ridgewood Dept of Recreation. Fencing equipment is provided for this course.

  • Ages: 9 to 12

  • Time: Wednesdays 3:45-4:45pm

  • Dates: January 7th 2026 through February 19th (NO Class Feb 12th)
